It has been reported this week that construction workers across the UK should be prepared to show their cards, with news of an industry-wide card audit planned for Wednesday 8th February 2017.
With member companies of Build UK and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association being instructed to check all cards on that day, to ensure that they are up to date and of the smart card variety.
The audit is seeking to promote the value of the smart technology used by SKILLcard, the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and other CSCS partner schemes to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired or fraudulent cards.
SKILLcard is committed to providing the very best personnel registration and card issuing solution for the engineering services industry, continually adding value to cardholders, contractors and clients.
We introduced smart chip technology across all SKILLcards in October 2015. The unique technology built into every smart SKILLcard allows cardholders to instantly prove they have the skills and qualifications to carry out work, giving contractors the confidence that they have the right person for the job and eliminating the risk of fake cards within the industry.
Through using a card reader or device such as a smartphone or tablet, identity and qualifications can be checked instantly, making it easier for construction sites to make sure they have the right workers for the job. You can download our Go Smart apps, or software for card readers free of charge from our download page.
The benefits of smart technology are increasing all the time, with the addition of new apps and software, making SKILLcard even more indispensable.
